We woke up really early in the morning and ate breakfast. Then the parents pestered my sister and I to get ready. By seven we were out of the apartment building and on the way to the Malaysian Mission.

Since I couldn't pray, I helped set up the dessert table. Cut cakes, laid out cookies, and rewarded myself with bites of everything too.

Unfortunately, when the actual food was laid out, there wasn't enough to go around. It disappeared very fast. I talked to all sorts of people, however. Sadly, I couldn't take any pictures, because the batteries of my camera died. So frustrating.

Then we went back to the apartment, and I fell asleep. I woke up much much later and I didn't do much. Watched TV, went online, went back to sleep. Your usual.

I got awakened by parents with orders to clean up the room. Today is the last day of fasting. Tomorrow will be Eid. My sister had gone shopping. Went online and blogged for a bit. No boyfriend. Then I ate and tidied up the room. All nice and neat.

After that I settled in front of the TV until people started coming in for our little fast-breaking ceremony. So I spent several hours eating, talking and running around doing all sorts of little chores that a party requires.

There was this Malaysian boy, his first year, studying here. I think his name is Edry. He reminded me of Tariq a bit.

We had the takbir. For non-Muslims, that's sort of like Muslim version of caroling. Not quite, but that's the closest thing to it. We all took turns leading. The Edry boy did his own too, which was very funny, and I wondered how Tariq would do at takbir. He has a beautiful voice. I messed up the takbir big time myself when Adik, Mom, and I led together. I don't read Arabic very well....

Finally, people started drifting off, and I went online to find my boyfriend, except he wasn't online, and I was so tired and sleepy and I fell asleep right on my parents' bed. Then the stupid phone rang, and jerked me awake.

Next thing I know, I was talking to my siblings in Malaysia. Then I waited until everybody had been done with the phone, I went online. Still no sign of boyfriend.

After a while, he finally shows up. I am soooo very sleepy now. He's a male.

Argh. Came back home last night to find parents asleep, with their door closed. Since the computer is in their room, I couldn't blog. I hated that. That is not good.

The day started with me lounging around in bed. Then I hear a knock on the door and I let Daddy in. He's arrived!

After that, I slowly get ready to go meet friends. I had arranged to meet one or two in a Barnes & Noble bookstore downtown. Well, Union Square, to be specific, but we don't have to be so picky. I picked up Terry Goodkind's new book, The Pillars of Creation. So excited.

I was afraid that only Ashwini would show up, but to my great joy, so did Su-Queen and Janel! Yay! We went to eat at Ranch 1. I couldn't finish my meal. We talked and yakked and it was just lovely. Su-Queen and Janel then had to go, because they have exams still.

So Ashwini and I started walking. We walked and walked and walked. We walked down to Houston Street (really downtown) then went right back up to 23rd Street! We took a break there and sat at Mike's Pizza until they were closing. Then we continued our walk all the way up to 34th, where Ashwini lived.

Then I went home, to find the parents asleep. I was very distressed at being unable to blog. Or talk to Tariq. So I called him. Had one last phone card, given to me by my generous, wonderful little sister. Sigh. He was a great comfort when I couldn't blog.

After that I read The Pillars of Creation until it was done. Damn it, now I can't wait for the next book! The hints of the next adventure was torturously tantalizing! Goodkind is evil. Though he looks very cool in his photo. Then I went to sleep.

I woke up and went online and found no boyfriend to make me feel all better about Great Pain. I stayed online quite a while too. No boyfriend showed up. Ate macaroni and cheese, talked to Yu San, and talked to Boon. Well, actually, more like told Boon that her girlfriend was always welcome to my bed, but I'm not sure Boon will pass the offer on to her girlfriend....

Once I finally got really bored of the Internet, and everyone abandoned me in my Great Pain, I got dressed and trundled downtown. Went to the gothic dress shop. Found a hot and sexy skirt, but it was too pricey. Sigh. Went to comic store. The comic Yu San wanted is not in stock. Found a little shop that was selling keychains and necklaces that engrave photos. Was quite tempted to get one with Tariq's picture on it. Shall think about it.

I then spent the rest of the day at Barnes & Noble. Forgot to eat meals. Oh, I ate a sandwich and drank a Coke some time around six, at the cafe. I kept my nose in a book the whole time. Finally, bookstore announced that they'd be closing in an hour's time. I finished the book I was reading, picked a book to buy and got out of there.

Went home, and I'm now talking to Tariq, who's staying up all night to comfort me in my Great Pain. I have a Prince for a boyfriend. :) I adore him.

I'm sleepy. Didn't do much today. Slept through most of it.

Broke my fast on truffles and Honey Nut Cheerios. With milk, of course. After that, I washed my bedroom sheets. They're fresh and clean and warm from the dryer.

I went to the supermarket and bought piles of my favourite American food: microwave dinners. It was necessary because I realized that the weather isn't going to get much warmer, so it's ridiculous, if I decide that I don't want to go out for whole days, to put on four layers of clothing just to buy my lunch or iftar (fast-breaking), then go right back to the apartment. Solution: food at home.

Not that Mom doesn't have food in the apartment. It's just that they all require actual effort. I can't actually cook when I have my nose in a story book, or my butt stuck to the couch in front on the TV. Solution: microwave dinners.

While purchasing aforesaid microwave dinners at the supermarket, I noticed the Cramping. Pain near the pelvis, and back ache, and I knew. Sure enough, when I went back to the apartment: Blood Red Period. Excuse the bluntness.

Where there is Great PMS, there is little pain.
Where there is little pms, there is Great Pain.

I tried to put on my aerobics VCD to try and numb the pain with a little adrenaline. Unfortunately, for some strange reason, the damned thing refuses to play.

Went online to find comfort in the metaphorical arms of my boyfriend. Unfortunately, he had to go sleep because he has some morning Appointment.

Argh. Just my luck. Great Pain sucks. So I'll go crawl into my nice, clean bed now.

Which Evil Criminal are You?

There you go. Slutty, bimbo females, don't mess with me.

I woke up and went online to talk to my darling Tariq.

I went to return the video we rented on Sunday night, and bought McDonald's for fast-breaking. Then I talked again to sweetheart again online. After that I slept.

Woke up, heated the food up and broke my fast. Then did laundry. Went online again. Talked to Nina, as you can read in her blog. Just as I was about to go pick up my laundry, my boyfriend comes online. We chat just a bit.

I watched Smallville while folding the laundry. For the non-Americans, it's a new TV show about Clark Kent in his youth. Lex Luthor is young, and a good guy with a nasty father, apparently. I don't know much. It's my first time watching it, but it seems good.

Mom then came home and took the TV over, so I quit the laundry-folding to talk to my boyfriend again. I have to go back to it. Excuse the duitful daughter here....

Extremely early in the morning (and I mean extremely early), we went to the Consulate-General of Mexico to get visas because we're going to Mexico for a few days just before Christmas. To our horror, although Dad got his visa in one day back in Malaysia, over here it takes four weeks to get the visa. Furthermore, it took a whole lot of unnecessary tolerance of rudeness and unhelpfulness to find out that little tid-bit, which made Mom not pleased. We left the consulate with Mom determined to talk to the Mexican Ambassador.

Little sister went back to Princeton, I started heading towards home, but got distracted by Barnes & Noble on the way, and stayed there until they kicked me out at closing time.

Came back just in time to watch the first half of Angel, then switching to Justice League which clash times, unfortunately. After that, I started watching the Making of The Lord of the Rings, but then Mom took the TV over. Sigh. So I went online.

At first Tariq was no where in sight. In fact, he had sent a message that he had gone to sleep early because he has a morning meeting. I was quite sad. Then my computer crashed, and when I got back online, he was there! We chit-chatted just a teeny bit before he went off. Hopefully to get some sleep, which is what I'm going to do.

NOSE
by HANI Selamat

My nose is falling off
I can feel it
I can nearly see it
My nose is coming off

Don't tell me otherwise
Such words are all lies
My nose is falling off

My nose hasn't fallen yet
I've been waiting and waiting
It's still there just hanging
My nose hasn't come off yet

I couldn't wait
It got too late
So I cut my own nose off
